Eat Fat to Lose Fat

By Matt Holtom

There are good and bad in almost everything and nutritional fat is the same. People are advised through media and sources alike that all fats are potentially bad and the cause for the obesity problem in the UK and beyond. This is only partly true!

Yes, saturated fats are bad, but it's carbohydrates I believe are the real problem! More precisely, simple carbs or high glycemic carbs. Carbohydrates are the body's first fuel for energy, it's other factors which decide whether your body stores this energy for later use (converted to fat) or burns it.

To lose body fat you need the body to decide to burn... GOOD fats contribute to this deciding factor!

Will VAT on cosmetic surgery lead to an increase on foreign 'bodge' jobs?

Is cosmetic surgery vanity or is it for better mental stability?

Many people decide to go under the knife each and every year. It can be for a variety of reasons; ears pinned back or the usual tummy tuck or breast implants! The problem is how can the government distinguish the difference between someone having surgery for vanity purposes and someone having surgery to benefit their own mental well being?

Unfortunately all forms of surgery carry risks! Even with todays best science and doctors on stand by there can always be complications! So whenever you look at surgery do your research and make sure it's what you really want!

It was said in the BBC news recently that the government have been discussing the possibility of increasing the cost of this type of "cosmetic surgery" by a further 20% in VAT (value added tax). Will this lead to many people going abroad running the risk under a foreign surgeons knife?

Is cosmetic surgery vanity or needed for mental health stability? What is your view on this?

David Beckham Hails London 2017 World Athletics Championships Winning Bid

David Beckham celebrated a famous victory last night after London won the rights to stage the 2017 World Athletics Championships.

In a triumph for legacy over lucre London beat gas-rich Qatari capital Doha 16-10 in a vote held in Monaco.

"Another great win for Seb and the team," said Beckham in praise of 2012 Olympics boss Sebastian Coe and colleagues who included past and present track stars Denise Lewis and Jodie Williams.

"It will be fantastic for the city and the country. Would never have imagined where I was born in the East End hosting two world class sporting events. Exciting times."

London was given the nod despite Doha pledging to foot the bill for the £5 million prize money and promising a further £18m in sponsorship.

But athletics' chiefs instead bought into London's promise that the World Championships offered the "greatest possible legacy off the back of the Olympics."
